There are three types of isolation gowns according to their sleeve:

1-    Elastic sleeve

2-    Polyester bound knit sleeve

3-    Thumb covering sleeve

Isolation gowns are also categorized according to their back bound:

1-    Zip-fastener back bound

2-    Hook and loop back bound

Usually isolation gowns are one size for universal usage, which means one-size-fits-all.

There are four levels of protection of isolation gowns:

-       Level-1 Gowns:Used in places where the contamination risk is minimum such as close contact with patients, healthcare workers and visitors inside hospitals

-       Level-2 Gowns: Used in low-level-risk practices such as drawing blood from patient

-       Level-3 Gowns: Used in mid-level-risk practices such as surgical operations 

-       Level-4 Gowns: Used in high-level-risk practices such as long surgeries where liquid movement is high.

Mostly used type of gowns are Level-1 gowns.

-       PBT: Polibutilen Tereftalat Meltblown

-       SMS: Spunmelt Nonwoven
